After ordering my larger decals I realised I still had a ridiculous amount of small decals so I figured I could use them on other piece I had at my disposal, like this reduction fired piece a friend gave me as a second.
I love how well the red tones work together and i purposely selected this decal for it’s shape as it fits perfectly in the opening of the red.

I love the colours and results you get with reduction firings and here is a piece that another friend made and allowed me to use as a test for decals. I did consider using a reduction firing as I really love the blue hues that can be accomplished through this type of firing but booking space for this was limited and I felt it would be more beneficial to use electric kilns as there are far more available and I wouldn’t be as restricted.
I did slightly over fire this piece though which is why there are some sections burnt away. I do like how its turned out though!

So here is the first final piece with the decal applied, this is before firing however so I don’t expect it to remain this bright but to fade slightly. I am happy for it to do this however as I want it to work well with the background not look disjointed.

After testing a sheet of small decals I narrowed down my choice and re ordered larger versions of the designs i wanted to use. I do think they look even better when blown up. So I’ve begun to apply them to my glazed tableware now, exciting times!

So after my little test tiles I decided to use a blue stain to tint the clear glaze, i went with and addition of 0.3% which produced the results seen in this firing!
Just right for my taste I think!:)

I also only fired to 1260 degrees in hope that it would produce less warping.. not sure if the extra 20 degrees would make much difference but either way my pieces came out with no damage a little amount of warping. I was extremely pleased!

So here are some little test piece I tried to see how I liked the new decals :) i used some stains to give the glaze a little bit of colour rather than just having the flat white.
I really like the blue tone and for some reason the yellow and purple stains didnt really show after firing… so i guess i wont go with them!
I will continue to test the denim blue stain or maybe a similar colour stain.
I have also managed to narrow down the decals that I want to use for my final pieces, which will allow more room on my order page multiples of the ones i want! :)

I love creating collages and basically was inspired to combine floral elements with mechanical parts. With this in mind I collected a range of floral and mechanical print outs to collage with. I was really pleased with the results and debated on whether to turn them into decals, I was encouraged to do so. So I ordered decals to apply to my porcelain tableware and they have arrived! Very excited to start testing these on glazed pieces!! :D

Some bowls I threw on the potters wheel :) I’m glad I decided to go back to throwing rather than casting other objects, I do enjoy the process :D
I also think I find the end result a lot more satisfying  :D

I finally got round to glazing this piece after Christmas. I’m so pleased with how it’s turned out.
I do love high-fired porcelain!!  The glaze is beautiful, but maybe I’m biased as I love blue and turquoise shades!

Here’s a photo of from the Second Cardiff Arts Collective Christmas Fair that took place in The Pageant Rooms, Penarth.

Unfortunately, I once again left it until midday before taking a photo but you can get and idea of what it may have looked like at the start of the day!
I absolutely loved being a part of these two fairs selling alongside some amazing artists and designers!

Penarth Cardiff Arts Collective Christmas Fair, December 2013.

So while it was quieter I managed to pop up on the balcony to take a sneaky arial view photo :D
If I had a wider lens you would have also been able to see the wonderful Jazz band that were playing at the time on the balcony on the right hand corner of the room :)
